FAQ
What can I make with MapLoco's visited places maps?
You can make personal maps showing the U.S. states, countries, European countries, or Canadian provinces and territories you have visited. Some map styles also support related themes, such as places you have lived or golfed.

How do I mark places on a map?
Open the map generator you want to use, then click or tap each state, country, or province you want to mark. Click or tap a selected place again to remove it.

Can I change the map after I start?
Yes. Keep selecting or unselecting places until the map looks right. The preview updates as you make changes.

Can I share or download my map?
Yes. The map pages provide generated images and sharing options that you can use for personal pages, blogs, social posts, trip reports, and similar uses.

Can I put a MapLoco map on my own page?
Yes, as long as the map is visible, links back to MapLoco, and does not interfere with the MapLoco service. Only one MapLoco map is allowed per page.

Can I remove the MapLoco link from an embedded map?
No. The rules require maps to link back to MapLoco.com.

Can I use a visited places map commercially?
Yes. Commercial use is allowed as long as the map follows the site rules, remains visible where embedded, and links back to MapLoco.

Are there limits on map use?
MapLoco maps are intended for lawful use. Do not use the service for spam, harassment, impersonation, illegal content, or anything that creates excessive bandwidth or service load.

How old do I need to be to use MapLoco?
You must be at least 13 years old to use the site.

Why do some place names or borders look different than I expect?
Map borders and labels are simplified so the generated image stays readable at web sizes. Some territories, disputed areas, or very small places may be grouped or shown differently than on a detailed atlas.

Who owns the content I add around my map?
You are responsible for any content you post with or around a MapLoco map. If you believe content on MapLoco infringes your copyright, see the Terms & Copyright page for the copyright notification process.
